More will be updated when I learn more on how to be a good leader.
1. | Whatever bad happens during the phase of the project, do not vent it out on the team. Your team will not respect and treat you as a leader. You will be mocked behind for bringing emotions to work. When anything bad happens to the project, discuss it with the team peacefully and see what can be done to salvage the situation and to prevent such things from happening again in the future. |
2. | Do not micromanage too often. Which also means that when you give the job to your fellow team mates to complete, give them the scope and target to finish it. Do not need to ask them how will they be completing their tasks. As long as the final version of the tasks are reasonably good, it is good enough. |
3. | Every plan should come up with a contingency plan. This is to make sure that whenever something goes wrong with the actual plan, there will be a backup to cover up the actual plan. |
4. | Structure the team and give the appropriate jobs to the appropriate team mates. Do not keep changing their scope of work or they will be very confused with what you actually want them to do. Keep them focus on a particular scope of work. |
5. | If you want to hurry up to get a job done, try to motivate the team by giving them incentives or privileges. This will easily hasten the process and get the job done quickly and of better quality. Motivation is what keeps the team moving. |
6. | To keep the team going in high spirits, try to occasionally organize some team outings during and after office hours. This is also essential for team bonding and to get to know each other better. |
7. | Try not to bring up the pasts that do not bring any value to the team. Instead focus more on the tasks at hand and see what you can or cannot do. |
8. | Give and take whenever you can. Always take in lots of criticisms and praises, you will improve along the way. They are necessary for you to mould yourself to be a better leader. |
